Description
I have a blog friend who takes a lot of sunrise photographs. That's not my usual thing, but he inspired me, so twice in one month I went out in the pre-dawn darkness to see what I could do. In the case of this picture, I drove 45 minutes from home to a place I'd photographed by day. I walked along a trail with only a flashlight to light my way, then stopped near a pond and took pictures as the first red light of day began to appear. Between me and the water stood a colony of cattails, which you can just make out.

I drove almost an hour and walked a good while in the dark with a flashlight to be able to take this picture.
